This post comes with a present! See below your customisable logo templates.
The other day I was quoting for a new business branding. I was trying to adjust the estimate as much as I could but, frustratingly, I knew that the young entrepreneur wouldn’t be able to afford our fees. We, Pixel and ink, are not expensive, but a good brand design requires time and work.
My heart sinks every time a new business turns down one of our quotes. Not because the business we lose, but because I’m unable to help. It’s for this reason that I thought I could write a post on how to design a logo that despite it will not be an award-winning, and it will help your business to get started while you earn the resources to contract a designer (which I hope you’ll think of us ? ).
Let’s get cracking:
1. Start by typing your business name
Once you are in Figma (or any other vectorial programme you decide to use). Enter the name of your company and choose a font based on the type of your business. Just in black, for now, we’ll introduce colours later on.
2. Play with your fonts
Adjust your business name by changing the font weight, putting all uppercase or combined and modifying the letter space. Note that thick fonts work well for brands that are looking to be reliable and a bit authoritarian while thin fonts are elegant and refined. The lower case feels more friendly than upper case, which looks more robust and trustworthy. See how the visual meaning changes in the examples below:
3. Icons and decorations
For now, we recommend you use a letter of your business name. You can put it inside a circle or square or a simple shape, avoid too generic symbols and the use of clipart. See what we mean below:
Everybody gets excited with colours! We need to be careful that we don’t get carried on too much. Adding a lot of colours to your brand may make it a bit childish, so try to stick with one or two colours. There are a preestablished colour meanings that you must be aware of. Below we’ve simplified them for you.
5. Save and share!
We hope this helps you to kick off your business and become successful. Remember that when you are ready for an upgrade, we are here!
We’d love to see your creations, so post them below or on social mentioning us.
